On the 25th and 26th of August 2023, the “European Fairytale Orchestra” conducted by maestro Dirk Boiy, will present the musical fairy tales “Peter and the Wolf” and “The Marquis of Carabas”  (a.k.a. “The Booted Cat”.)

The production will be narrated in Greek, on the 25th, by the renowned Greek fairytale narrator Taxiarchis Belligiannis, and in English on the 26th, by Georgia Chakaly.

The European Fairytale Festival team is looking forward to introducing the children of the island of Syros, regardless of nationality or age, to classical music via these fairytales.

This will be the first ever performance of  Robert Groslot’s musical composition “The Marquis of Carabas” in Greece. The dramatisation of the Greek version by Taxiarchis Belligiannis, will follow the Greek traditional point of view, while Georgias narration will be based on the original French fairytale.

Music and narration will be accompanied by puppeteers and, immediately prior to the performances, in the beautiful gardens of Chroussa’s Panagia Faneromeni, workshops will be held, both for children, as well as for any curious parents!
